Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach out through the "Get Started" page if you cannot find an answer to your question.

You can reach out to Sentinel Strength Counseling by:

  • sending an interest message through the website "Get Started" buttons
  • We will then set up a free, 15 minute  consultation call to determine if we are a good fit.
  • From there, I can either set up an initial intake appointment, or I can offer referrals for you.

For many of my clients, it isn't until a relational crisis hits, that they seek out therapy.  Maybe you've just discovered your partner's been cheating. Maybe you've been discovered. Maybe nothing extreme happened, but you have been wanting and needing things to change, and nothing is happening. Therapy is a place to be supported without judgement, to get honest, to learn, and to grow. I will share with you my expertise and knowledge, and help guide you. Practical tools and expert insight are woven together to foster healing and growth.

The first appointment is an intake session. This involves information gathering, asking questions, and making sure we are both on the same page. I will clarify policies and procedures, limits of confidentiality, and we will help create treatment goals of what you are wanting to work on. From there, appointments are 50 min. individual therapy appointments that provide a confidential, unbiased space to focus on yourself. You can also consider group therapy, which can offer connection, support, normalizing experiences, and accountability.

That’s actually very common—I have had several clients who have been in therapy before. Sometimes a previous therapist helped you get through one season of life, but now you're facing something different. I believe there’s a time and place for everyone who’s walked alongside us, and it’s also okay to seek someone with a different focus or level of expertise. Whether you're looking for more targeted support, a fresh perspective, or simply a different therapeutic approach, I welcome the opportunity to help you move forward.

I have heard this several times. It’s understandable to have hesitations, especially if your presenting concerns involve women, or you feel unsure about how you’ll be perceived. Sometimes discomfort stems from personal history, relational wounds, or concerns about objectification—on either side.

As a female therapist, I bring a grounded, professional, and highly boundaried presence to the work. Therapy isn’t about gender—it’s about safety, trust, area of expertise, and helping you grow. In fact, many clients who were initially reluctant to work with a woman have found it to be unexpectedly healing. It can challenge old dynamics and create space for new, healthier relational patterns. A free 15 min consultation would be a great place to discuss this and decide for yourself if we could be a good fit.

I understand that concern, I really do. It can be a common concern for individuals to have preferences or concerns about the gender of the therapist, especially when working through issues involving trust, vulnerability, or relational wounds. I believe that therapy works best when all parties feel safe, open, and understood. Several of my clients have navigated similar situations—whether it's discomfort, fear, or even a protective instinct within the relationship. I am experienced in navigating these concerns with the respect and sensitivity they deserve.

It's a fair—and important—question. When you're facing one of life’s most overwhelming moments, it can feel impossible to put a price on healing, clarity, or expert guidance. Therapy is an investment in your well-being, and it’s essential that the care you receive is not only compassionate but also clinically sound and tailored to your needs.

I offer a free 15-minute consultation call so we can determine together whether I'm the right fit for your goals.

Rates:

  • Initial Intake Appointment (50 minutes): $230
  • Ongoing Individual Sessions (50 minutes): $200
  • Group Therapy Sessions: $75 per 90 min group

I do not accept insurance. However, I can provide superbills—detailed receipts that you can submit to your insurance company for possible out-of-network reimbursement.
Many clients with PPO plans are able to receive partial reimbursement for their sessions.

I encourage you to contact your insurance provider to ask about your out-of-network mental health benefits, deductibles, and reimbursement rates.
